Blood, Wine, and Broken Pipes

Happy Friday the 13th, fellow bears. The weekend is upon us, and it's time to shake off that hibernation.

A word of advice- save your honey and skip that new M. Night Shyamalan movie, The Happening. That is, unless you like an even-more-so-than-normal contrived Marky Mark.

Instead, maybe buzz on over to the ballpark and catch the Angels beat the snot out of those Braves, or have a bonfire at your local beach- like we did last evening.

This guy was wearing a Sleeping Giant shirt- rad!

Kate, trying her best to explain to Zoot Suit that she's leaving to Ghana to teach French, not a "goner 'cause of the stench."

My VBF, Mitch, probably thinking about Rum and Coca Cola. Hey Mitch, I think we need to catch a train?

Bry, with his best Undertaker pose. Why aren't there any pictures of Amelia? Amelia Maynor? Amelia R. Maynor?

Hey, even Melissa showed up! Spectacular!

After the sixth fall....

I decided to paddle my way off the beach...

But got paddle rot halfway through.

Just an FYI, sand stings.

Somewhere between our pit and our cars, the wine I was most looking forward to broke, and splattered all over the blanket to my right.

Then, after a brief stint on the roof in a park- Tony and I head back to our warehouse to discover that the work we had done prior to the fire was a wash. Water was everywhere, a screen was wasted, and more importantly our morale was lost. Tony was so delusional he kept eating tomatoes off a sandwich despite my salmonella-laden pleas. When I finally got home, I wasn't sure if the physical or emotional aches and pains hurt more.

That look Melissa's giving me in that last picture? Well it pretty much sums up the night.

Motivated

Somebody mentioned to me why I didn't have enough Sneakers (aka Eric) in The Bear Den. Well, not only have I made this post dedicated to him, but it's motivated me to include him in more of the posts.

I'm looking to print one of these for my office. Which one do you prefer?

We're Gonna Get Funky! (in a mason jar)

Fitting, that his name is Harvey.

So You Just Lost Money on Big Brown

Who cares. The real story was this kid (who opened the race singing "New York, New York") who's 9 years old.

It's kinda creepy. Maybe he's the real life Benjamin Button. It reminds me of that kid on Full House and in The Little Rascals, and since I couldn't find a video of him singing to that girl, I'll post this.

Cheaper Than Gas

About 51 years late, though.

Could you imagine? Afternoon game, then head on your Schwinn over to Disneyland for the rest of the night?

Glass cokes and ham sandwiches, standard.

Pain

I've got good news. You just saved a bunch of money on your car insurance by switching to GEICO.

The bad news is that it seems as though you've broken the hell out of that finger.

Tacky Tourist Day

On Sunday we got a group together to dress in our best Tacky Tourist attire. We got looks somewhere in between, "I get it, but I don't get it," and "I wonder how they all know each other."

Totally not planned, but the guys ended up wearing cutoff shirts.

It was cool that Goofy got the Tacky Tourist memo.

People weren't sure if Bryan worked at this wood mill or not.

'Da shaka for all you braddahs.

Even the animals were giving us looks.

8 people in the swinging ferris wheel- not a good move. Lovin' the death look from Mitch though.

If you're gonna spew, spew into this.

Our best try at the billboards.

Dreamweaver and her sisters going for the Photomakers pose.

Zombies?

Yeah, these were the looks we were getting.

Quote of the day:

"Your beard's like a Brita, man."
-Nick, liking Bryan's beard to a water filter that sifts out harmful creepy crawlies.

Next theme, The Jerk European Look. Who's in?

Oh No. They Got Him.

Please, God. No.

I guess this is related news...

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Disappointed Geoffrey

This is Geoff. Geoff is my friend. Geoff just embarked on a tour with his band, and left for Jerusalem this morning. This is Geoff's story.

I wont spoil it for the rest of you who haven't seen the new Indy flick yet, but let me just say that the Geoffster wasn't too pleased with the final product. I'm not sure whether it started with the gophers, or the refrigerator, or the monkeys- but somewhere along the line Geoff just had enough.

Before the movie, we had high hopes. We win a free soda. Is this a good sign, or does it mean the movie is a wash?

The previews are over, the movie begins. I sit behind him and could see his posture (which is usually amazing) slowly start to fade with every last gag that Lucas and Spielberg could toss us. By the time the inevitable snake gag was thrown, I could hardly see his head from his seat.

And to top things off, we've been hyping up this movie more than when McDonalds brought the McRib back. See, Geoff just came off an unconsciously long cross country tour and the only thing he wanted to do was watch this movie. Not even haunted gigs in Georgia could stop him from seeing Dr. Jones, but I'm sure after tonight he'd have rather tried to find that ghastly little girl.

Somewhere between "what?!," "reeeeeeally?!," "are you serious?!," and a few harsh words was where we found ourselves after the movie.

Hey Geoff- if you're reading this take care my friend. I want to hear more ghost stories when you get back, and maybe we can finally catch one of those baseball games.

Remember That Woody I Wanted?

I found a compromise.

And yes, it's a Mini Cooper. An original Austin 1964 Countryman to be exact.

Who Wants To Go Watch Sex and the City

Wearing these.

"Jason, can you pick up the kids?"

"No Ma'am!"
